These shorts from Dries Van Noten’s SS14 collection feature a subtle ‘Hawaiian Gothic’ floral print woven into the front of the shorts, corduroy waistband and sides, and a cotton backside. 

Prior to designing the collection, Van Noten had been looking through the archives of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, becoming absorbed by the “pretty, but strange” flower prints he came across, even more so because they were elements of menswear over the centuries. Prints used in his SS14 collection were derived from eighteenth-century rococo, scans of freshly cut blooms or Hawaiian gothic, and combined in unlikely silhouettes and fabrications.
